TALKING STALKING CONFERENCE – UNIVERSITY OF BRIGHTON – WESTLAIN HOUSE – LECTURE THEATRE
26TH NOVEMBER 2014 – 1PM – 5PM
Veritas-Justice, in Partnership with Student Services at the University of Brighton and Protection Against Stalking (National Charity), proudly held an inaugural Talking Stalking conference to mark the second anniversary of the introduction of stalking as a criminal offence. It also marked the sixteen days of action for change in relation to Ending Violence Against Women and Girls.
The conference was directed at staff and students at the University of Brighton with the aim of raising awareness of the complexities of stalking behaviours and the impact on victims and the community in general. It a fantastic opportunity to identify gaps in research, current practice and challenge social stereotypes.
Stalking is a crime that affects many people regardless of age, race, gender or background. Raising awareness is crucial to the understanding of the risks involved and how to keep safe.
Student Services is committed to University Community safety and wellbeing, and many students joined us for an opportunity to meet the agencies and professionals that attended on the day to offer guidance and support.
The presentations made on the day will be available to view soon..
